While networking or speaking to colleagues, I usually get asked the SAP system I normally use to study, practice for certifications or test new ideas or internal demos.
Some time back, the standard answer for that was an SAP IDES system. Nowadays, there is an alternative provided by SAP itself.
This alternative is SAP Cloud Appliance Library.
Taking the description from the SAP site:
SAP Cloud Appliance Library offers a quick and easy way to consume the latest SAP solutions in the cloud, such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP HANA Express Edition, Model Company Solutions, Industry Solutions etc.
It’s an online library of latest, preconfigured, ready-to-use SAP solutions that can be instantly deployed into your own public cloud accounts (e.g. Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform) to kick-start your SAP projects – within few hours!
And sharing the description video as well:
As described, the objective is that you can choose and have a trial run of different preconfigured SAP solutions where you can test your knowledge or try new ideas.
The process is relatively simple, you sign up, select the solution you want to deploy, connect your Cloud provider account, and you are ready for the deployment. So we can sum it up in a few clicks each time.
The deployment time (the servers’ creation on your Cloud provider varies) but is generally about a couple of hours based on the experience.
Once the deployment completes, you can access your instance as you would with any other regular SAP solution.
In case you want to try some of the latest innovations of S/4 HANA, Fiori, or other SAP solutions, SAP Cloud Appliance Library is my go-to recommendation to get access to SAP systems.
